Spinal Conditions Commonly Treatedby Dr Scott Birckbichler, VB Chiropractic

Low Back Pain

Low back pain, sometimes called lumbago, is a condition that effects at least 80% of the US population over the age of 18. It is the main condition that Chiropractors treat across the country on a day to day basis, and we are excellent at it!

Low back pain can range from a sharp stabbing pain to to a dull achy pain like a toothache. Low back pain is generally caused by a combination of your lumbar spine being misaligned, the muscles, nerves, ligaments, and tendons being over stretched and sprained. It is complicated by the amount of arthritis that you have, past injuries, hereditary factors, poor sleep, sitting or work posture.

Dr Scott Birckbichler has vast knowledge and expertise to treat your low back pain, and make sure it doesn’t come back again. Chiropractors realign the spine to alleviate low back pain and speed up healing. Chiropractors should be the first doctor to see if you have any type of low back pain.

Neck Pain

Neck pain is a nagging condition that affects everyone at some time. In fact, approximately 80% of people experience neck pain during their lifetime, and 20% to 50% deal with it annually, according to Harvard Medical School.

A neck adjustment works to improve the mobility of the spine and to restore range of motion; it can also increase movement of the adjoining muscles. Patients typically notice an improved ability to turn and tilt the head, and a reduction of pain, soreness and stiffness.

Headaches

Did you know that you’re only allowed to have one headache per month? If you have more than that, there may be something irritating the nerves in your upper neck creating the headaches.
Chiropractors can assess, diagnose, and manage headaches.
Evidence suggests that chiropractic care, including manual therapy, can be effective in treating cervicogenic (headaches coming from the neck) and tension headaches. Studies have also shown that chiropractic care can help decrease the intensity and frequency of migraines, according to the Canadian Chiropractic Association.

Sciatica

Sciatica is numbness, tingling, or shooting pain from your low back traveling down either leg. It is commonly caused by either a disc injury, or a misalignment in your low back irritating the nerve going down your leg. If it is left untreated, it can possibly lead to loss of strength in your legs, balance issues, and bladder incontinence

Chiropractic can help sciatica by adjusting the spine back into alignment alleviating the nerve pain, and reducing or eliminating sciatica.

Whiplash

There are over 6 million passenger car accidents in the U.S. every year.

In 2020, there were 2,282,015 injuries reported in car accidents, which is 6,252 per day, or four per minute. At least one driver or passenger is injured in 43% of car crashes.

Chiropractors can help patients that have been in a car accident by realigning the spine, letting the body heal itself, and repairing damaged soft tissue, like neck and low back conditions from whiplash.

Wellness and Preventative Care

You don’t need to be in pain to get adjusted. Chiropractic treatments can help even if you are not in pain. You never know how much better you can feel until you try. You wouldn’t wait until you have a cavity to go to the dentist, right? Coming in once a month and getting adjusted is like getting your regular cleaning at the dentist. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”, Benjamin Franklin.

Cervical Radiculitis

Cervical radiculitis is the numbness, tingling, or shooting pain in your neck traveling down your arms towards your fingers. It’s the same thing as sciatica, but in your neck down your arms. It is commonly caused by a pinched nerve in your neck, possibly from a disc herniation or bulge.

Chiropractors can realign your neck, therefore, releasing the pressure of the nerves and decreasing cervical radiculitis.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain and spinal cord process painful and non-painful signals.

Sports Injuries

Chiropractors treat soft tissue injuries of ligaments, tendons, and muscles from baseball to volleyball.
